THE ALLEGHENY REGIONAL THEATER EXPERIENCE (A.R.T.E.) is the youth program of the Struthers Library Theatre.

A.R.T.E. provides age-appropriate and sequential instruction in acting and musical theatre in an after-school class format. A.R.T.E. students take part in a cabaret or main stage performance at the end of each summer, fall, and spring semester. The Scholarship Program is essential to the A.R.T.E. program and provides up to 50% of the students’ need-based financial aid.

Students from grades 2 to 12 will explore all phases of theatre including theatre games, acting, directing, improvisation, storytelling, choreography, movement, music, costume, props, set design and more. Youth will meet with the Artistic Director and with other artists throughout the semester. Students will have the opportunity to work with an excellent staff as they develop their acting, vocal, dancing, and theatrical skills.

The A.R.T.E. program strives to challenge and enhance each student’s creative powers. The programs are based on the idea that every child has much to contribute to the creative process and a great time is had by all.

Branches of the Allegheny Regional Theatre Experience include the Allegheny Regional Dance Theatre and the A.R.T.E. Strings Program, which operates through a cooperative effort with SUNY Fredonia Professor of Music Dr. Harry Jacobson and the String Department at SUNY Fredonia. Another exciting offering is Timber Tales, the performing arts fusion group, which provides a unique opportunity for children and adults with adventurous spirits.

If you enjoy sharing and developing your artistic talents, being creative and collaborating with others, or are looking for a nurturing environment in which to explore your artistic interests, the Struthers Library Theatre has the programs for you.
